When you should go
Christmas is one of the best times to visit Kaunas, who run a full programme of events in the lead up to 25 December, including Christmas markets, special light installations and a number of festive concerts.

Don’t miss
Kaunas Castle: This is the city’s pride and joy - a restored medieval castle located close to the confluence of the rivers Neris and Nemumaus. Here you can check out the Museum of Medieval Artefacts and head up to the round tower where you will find spectacular views from its balcony.
Kaunas Old Town: Kaunas’ Old Town is a maze of cobbled streets, with an enchanting array of small boutique shops and inviting cafés. Due to the rich history of Kaunas as a member of the Hanseatic League, a lot of architecture in the Old Town has Gothic and Renaissance influences.
Devil’s Museum: The Devil’s Museum boasts a huge collection of artwork that depicts images of the devil, witches and a whole range of wicked, mythological creatures. It’s a little eccentric, but something a little different for your itinerary.
